Let’s celebrate your money milestones 🌈

Unmuted Money

Hello Reader,

June is Pride Month—a time to celebrate authenticity, self-expression, and progress. And while we honor the strength it takes to show up in the world as yourself, I want to invite you to do something just as bold:

Take pride in your financial journey.

Not just the big wins. Not just the highlight reel.
But the baby steps. The pivots. The “I didn’t give up” moments.

So many people downplay their progress because it doesn’t look “successful enough.” But your money milestones matter—even the messy ones. Especially the messy ones.

🗨️ Rant – Stop shrinking your money wins

We live in a world where achievement is either massive or meaningless. If it’s not paying off $50k overnight, it doesn’t “count.” But here’s the truth:

  • Saying “no” to that impulse purchase = a win.
  • Asking for a payment plan = a win.
  • Opening the bill you’ve been dreading = absolutely a win.
  • Making a money mistake, learning, and trying again? That’s a win and a flex.

Too often I hear people say things like:

“It was just luck.”
“It wasn’t that much.”
“I should’ve done this sooner.”

That kind of thinking is why so many people feel stuck. If you don’t give yourself permission to feel proud, you’ll never realize how far you’ve already come.

👀 Reflection – The day I didn’t feel proud, but should’ve

I’ll never forget when I paid off my first credit card. I’d been chipping away at it for months. I logged in, saw the $0 balance—and didn’t even pause.

No celebration. No relief. No “wow, I did that.”

I was already fixated on the next thing: the bigger debt, the goals I hadn’t reached, the ways I thought I “should” have done it better. How I "should" have never been in this spot in the first place.

Looking back, I robbed myself of a moment I really earned. When I first spoke to someone else about paying off a credit card was the first time I realized: being proud is part of the process.

Now, I make space for those celebrations—because they build momentum. And because they remind me I’m growing, even when it’s not perfect. Guess who has credit card debt again due to having to float two months of no payment while my savings fund was already used because of health issues? Me. Guess who will be celebrating as I tackle it? Me and my family. I am proud I even had the credit to cover everything and still be well under 30% utilization.
