Hello Reader,
Welcome to July. It is a month filled with summer heat, fireworks, and talk of independence. And while we’re waving flags and watching parades, I can’t help but think about what freedom looks like when it comes to our money. Spoiler: it’s not just about a bank balance. It’s about reclaiming our time, our energy, and our choices. It is about spending money on what makes us happy. Let’s dig into what that could look like for you, because your version of financial independence deserves to be honored, too.
💬 Rant:
This time of year, we see fireworks, flags, and the word “freedom” everywhere. But what does freedom mean when it comes to your money? We often think financial freedom means hitting some magical number: debt-free, a six-figure salary, fully funded retirement accounts.
But here’s the truth: 💥 Financial freedom is also about having control over your time.
If you’re trading every waking hour for work you don’t enjoy…
If you feel like rest has to be earned with exhaustion…
If your schedule leaves no room for joy, creativity, or breath…
That’s not freedom my friend, it’s survival. It is a bleak existence that society has us believing is the only way to live unless you are "filthy rich."
Financial independence can be the ability to:
✅ Say no to hustle culture
✅ Pay someone else to do something you hate
✅ Create space to rest without guilt
And yes, sometimes it means spending money in ways that give you your life back.
👀 Reflection:
One of my clients, let's call them Betty (been missing Betty White lately) well she used to be stuck in the cycle of doing everything herself. Even the tasks she loathed, that she considered were energy draining, not fun, a legitimate chore that she had to force herself to do on a weekly basis.
So I challenged her to just look into the cost of hiring someone to do one task she hated the most, picking up literal dog 💩. Her dog was a big boy and she would complain about how he basically had cow patties poops. At first she was shocked that was even an option, and then came the shame spiral of her thinking that outsourcing anything chore related was lazy or wasteful.
Eventually, she came across a special for getting a pooper scooper for a month. So she trialed it and she loved it. That one little delegation had her hiring help for the chores she hated most. This gave her now just a few hours back each week. We estimated a total of 5 but sometimes it would be like 7 (Mountains of Clothes or Dishes can take a toll.)
And what did she do with that time?
✨ She rested.
✨ She reconnected with a creative hobby that she accidentally turned into a side hustle.
✨ She earned more than what she spent, because her energy came back.
What she thought was “unnecessary spending” turned out to be one of her best investments in both her wellbeing and her income.

- What does financial freedom mean to you (not social media)?
- What parts of your week feel most free vs. most draining?
- If you had 3 more hours a week, what would you do with them?
- What’s one task you could delegate—even temporarily?
Remember: Freedom isn’t a number. It’s how your money supports the life you actually want to live.
